What is interesting in visiting Banda Aceh  ? it is culinary trip actually ! Why we must do culinary trip here? What is more interesting that a place rich in abundance of hot spices and sweet culinary ? 
The right place is ... Banda Aceh !
Banda Aceh is a place rich in abundance of hot spices and sweet sugar of the culinary. It has many culinary delicacy each with its own unique spices ,sweet and flavors that makes our mouth addicted to taste it again and again. And giving unforgatable that gived traditional taste in our mind :)

Food serving tradition

Serving food in wedding ceremony is a tradition we can find in Aceh. The food served is specified for the bride’s family. It’s variated from the sweet to hot amd spicy, fruits, cakes, drinks and the unique rice wrapped in banana leave. The served food is very well stacked and organized.






Hot spices of Acehnese culinary

-       Mie Aceh

Acehnese noodles is one of the favourites among the hot spiced culinair in Aceh. It has 3 varians, fried, wet fried, and boiled.acehnese noodles is made from hot spices and chili. The seasonings is similar to curry usually shrimp, meat, crab and squid. The aroma more tempting when it’s sprinkled with fried onion, onion leaf, and seledri. Acehneswe noodles has its own flavor and fragrance, different from other noodles. When we try these noodles, we can instantly feel the spicy flavor and aroma of fragrant herbs. The red color became one of the uniqueness of thess noodles. Eating Acehnese noodles is fantastic companied with fried chips, red onion and pickles, and put a little lemon slice.

To make this special Aceh cuisine, the ingredients and seasonings to prepare is beef, shrimp, cabbage, bean sprouts, noodles, red and white onions, tomato, green onion, celery, vinegar and soy sauce. For the spicy paste, you need to prepare red and white onions, red pepper, curry powder, cumin, pepper, and salt.





















-       Kari kambing ( Kuah Blangong )
Acehnese curry is the most popular cuisine in Aceh. It’s called “kuah Beulangong” wich means “pot sauce” in Indonesia. The Acehnese Curry has a hot and spicy taste with a yellow color. The meat is what varies it. Goat meat, beef, chicken meat and duck meat. Coconut milk ,jackfruit, young banana, red chilli, dried chili and grated coconut is the main ingredients. In many occasions, Acehnese Curry is cooked in a very big pot. Usually the adult men with good cooking skill that cooks this curry, so it can be the attraction to tourist.  Usually the curry is served with soy sauced goat meat, and cucumber juice called “nie boh timon” used too neutralize the blood pressure. This curry could also be served with other Acehnese cuisine such as keumamah and fried chicken.

 
 

 

 


 














The sweet sugar 
Timphan
Timphan is a very popular Acehnese traditional cake. This cake has a variety of flavors and fillings with a distinctive aroma. This cakeis often served in important occasions and major holidays of Islam. But on a typical day, the food is easy to find in any coffee shop. Timphan taste sweet and sticky with a soft and chewy texture.

Timphan ingredients is glutinous rice and coconut milk. Sometimes the basic materials of timphan is varied with yellow pumpkins, bananas and brown rice. Filling in this timphan is srikaya dough, grated coconut or durian that tastes very sweet. A very prominent characteristic of timphan is timphan dough wrapped in steamed young banana leaf.  The making proccess of Timphan also has its own uniqueness. The dough is shaped as small balls and then thinned on a banana leaf, then comes the filling part continued with wrapping and steaming.
